The web (or just those behind WAOTD) has officially named camelcamelcamel web app of the day. This is probably the closest I’ll come to winning an Oscar.
*Basks in it*
I’ve been so busy farming camels lately that I failed to notice that Stashbox hit 12,000 registered users recently. That’s a lot of people who put their files in it.
It has been a long but pretty much always fulfilling road – today camelcamelcamel celebrated its first birthday.
I wrote about it on the c3 blog, checkeraut here.
Aside from some very windy motorcycle riding across the Bay Bridge (and then getting lost in the city for a while), I had a good time picking through Amoeba’s records this eve with Brennan and Christophe.

There are two El Toyanese taco trucks on Harrison street: one at 14th, next to Best Buy, and one at 19th, near a school of some sort. I’ve only eaten at the latter, but both are owned by the same company so one can assume a shared deliciousness.
I usually get the veggie burrito; my friends stick to the tacos (carne asada, veggie, etc). Everyone leaves satisfied.
Here’s a photo from my last visit:
Notice how they did not skimp on spicy / pickled carrots!
On December 7, 2008 I posted about camelcamelcamel hitting 1000 users. Today (March 19, 2009) we hit 2000 users and have 4 sites in the camel network.
I didn’t think my simple little throw-away project would turn into something useful, but I’m glad it did. That could not have happened without the contributions of Cosmic Shovel, for which I am eternally grateful.
Tonight we launched our Overstock.com price tracker, camelstock.com. I like it. That bar at the top is just too sexy.
As always, thanks to Nithya for testing the shit out of this release.
